About Dawn
“Service, Sacrifice, and Strength for Luzerne County’s Future”
I am a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, a community advocate, and a dedicated public servant committed to making Luzerne County a place where every resident can thrive. Born to an immigrant mother, I understand firsthand the strength that diversity and perseverance bring to our communities. My life has been defined by service – to my country, my neighbors, and the ideals of fairness and opportunity.
After serving honorably in the military, I built my career in the private sector and nonprofit work, gaining a reputation for bringing people together to solve problems and create lasting solutions. I know the challenges of working families because I’ve faced them myself. I understand what it’s like to balance a budget when times are tight and to fight for a seat at the table when decisions impact everyday lives.
Although I wasn’t born in Luzerne County, I proudly call this community home. My deep connection to the area comes from years of living, working, and volunteering alongside my neighbors—listening to their concerns, celebrating their victories, and standing with them in hard times. I believe that strong communities are built on empathy, accountability, and a shared commitment to the common good.
My experiences as a veteran, a woman of color, and someone who has faced economic challenges uniquely prepare me to represent Luzerne County’s diverse population. I am determined to build a local government that works for everyone, not just the well-connected. From supporting infrastructure that truly serves residents to ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility, I am ready to put my leadership, integrity, and passion for public service to work for all of Luzerne County.
Why I Decided to Run
I’m running for Luzerne County Council because I believe government should work for everyone and not just the well-connected or the wealthy.
As a veteran, a mother, and someone who has experienced both struggle and opportunity, I’ve seen how policies made far from home can shape everyday lives. Our county is full of hardworking people who deserve safe neighborhoods, reliable infrastructure, and a government that listens and responds with transparency and compassion.
I chose to run because I know what it’s like to feel unheard. Too many families in Luzerne County face rising costs, housing insecurity, and limited access to essential services. I want to ensure that our local government remains a place where every voice matters, where fiscal responsibility meets empathy, and where we plan for a future that includes all of us.
This campaign is about service, accountability, and hope. Together, we can build a county government that reflects the strength and diversity of the people who call Luzerne County home.
